The beautiful Anita Safo, founder of POP Productions represents #DevotedToDoing daily. Her experience and influence in front and behind the camera, as model/actress and producer/director respectively, have earned her the attention of her peers and respect within the media industry.
I witnessed this woman in the action while behind the scenes of her very first “Culture Shock Show” in 2012. If there were hiccups, I was oblivious. She worked the event with finesse and grace. At the time I was the assistant to a boutique owner who had a line in the show. Anita was accommodating to the designers, sponsors and performers, which attributes to this being her 6th production of the Culture Shock Show. She rocked it!
Recap of 2016 Culture Shock Show experience.
The show was birthed as a way to reconnect the diaspora and to bring awareness to diverse and evolving cultures and their global influence, through fashion, music, and art. It’s a highly anticipated annual event, fusing a fashion show and art festival in one event.
This year’s Culture Shock is hosted by Kwasi Beast and Ellen Baby all the way from Denmark.
I have heard that you need to “[b]e prepared for a show that has grown so much, ‘fashion show’ doesn’t even begin to describe what you will experience at Culture Shock!”
This year’s expected designers:
